I don't want to give anything away - except to say that this is VERY worth the read! WONDERFULLY written and exciting! I thoroughly enjoyed it and plan to pick up a published copy to re-read in the future.  If you enjoy stories that are well-written, flow smoothly and are wonderful reads, please pick this one up! I rarely give out "5" star ratings, but felt that this little gem deserved it!! ~Sherri

The language used by the author describes everything so perfectly, so thrillingly, so terrifyingly.  This may be a short story, but it has so many twists and turns. It starts out like a usual horror story and is dark, eerie, creepy and chills you to the bone. It has you thinking, wondering, trying to work it out and the twist at the end was not what I was expecting. Brilliant story telling. ~ Anna

The Clock Struck One had me gripped from the first page! So many twists and i did not for one minute guess the ending.  I can honestly say that this is one of the best novella's that I have read in a long time. So much was packed into this story and do hope to read more of Helen's books. ~ Jeanette

Mind blowing! Thought I had this all figured as a typical haunted house story but no sir! It was a fast paced read that had my heart pumping in some places and goosebumps all over me in others. A scary little story I read in Just one night. The ending was great and totally unexpected too!! ~ Mel

This is the second book that I've read by this author. I look forward to reading more from her. She had the knack for telling a story that just takes you in one direction, but in reality, it's not what it seems.  I read this story in less than an hour. I was totally engrossed within the pages and when the ending came about, I was totally amazed that it was completely different than what I expected.  This author has the ability to write a story with the unexpected happening. I love stories like this. It enables readers to enjoy the story, and "Wham" them of sorts to find that the story was not what it seems.  In this story, her world building and characters, as well as emotions and fears are created with intense imagery that ensnares the reader to quickly read the pages to see what happens. She can certainly tell a tale.  ~ Angela

Throughout the story I was figuring that this was going to be a typical haunting/killer ghost/end of story, but I was pleasantly surprised at the end.  ~ Lisa

OMG!! My heart is still racing. This book is awesome! Definitely not what I expected.  Just as I thought I had things figured - 'BAM' - another twist and I'm left wondering what next.  The writing is brilliant, the story executed just right and you can't help getting drawn into Tamara's world.  All I can say is WOW! - Well done Helen - hit the nail just right with this one. ~ Rayne

Reviews For "Behind Blue Eyes"

Helen Deakin's writing has a way of pulling you into the world of Behind Blue Eyes. The author challenges the reader to question each character's motivation as the story unfolds. The narrative in her novel made me feel like I was a roommate to the main Character Bradley. The story itself reads like Stephen King's Secret Window and Garden with a pace similar to Jay Bonansinga's The Killer's Game. Helen Deakin is definitely an author to follow. ~ Christopher

I was sent this from my friend who got it from the author in exchange for feedback and I'm glad she passed it on because I really enjoyed this book. Almost all the characters reminded me of people I know in real life and the plot was definitely intriguing. A great read! ~ Beth Ann

I came across this book while scouring various book sites and Amazon. The book description sounded interesting, so I purchased it. I've never read anything by this author before, but I will keep my eyes out for future works that pique my interest.  The storyline was unique. Plots were believable, and lots of twists and turns. I found the details were convincing. The author has a creative ability to suck you into the story, turning page after page, to discover who was the person doing all those horrible things.  The characters were very believable, and acted accordingly to things that occurred throughout the story. I found myself rooting for Bradley and his will to fight for his life. Some instances, I thought he would give up but he just kept fighting. He had some amazing friends that stuck by him. ~ Angela

I was so excited to get to finish this book because every time I picked it up I was so eager to find out what came next. I was hanging off of every page and the author just has a way of dragging you into the story with the realistic characters that are just like everyday people like you and me. There's so many phrases and quotes in this book that I just loved. The author really has a way with words and it was like reading a book that had mashed together the styles of Stephen King and Dean Koontz my two most favourite authors. ~Mel
